Packet size distributions

MCI backbone: This packet distribution was provided by Cooperative Association of Internet Data Analysis (www.caida.org), courtesy of kc claffy. This distribution was measured on MCI backbone and reported in paper
kc claffy, G. Miller, and K. Thompson, "The nature of the beast: Recent traffic measurements from an internet backbone," in Proceedings INET '98, (Geneva, Switzerland), July 1998. Available at www.caida.org/outreach/papers/1998/Inet98/.
The reported packet size distribution represents IP datagram sizes. To obtain Ethernet frame size distribution, the packet sizes should be modified to include 18-byte header (DA:6 bytes, SA:6 bytes, Length/Type:2 bytes, and FCS:4 bytes). All payloads shorter than 46 bytes must be padded to 46 bytes, so that the minimum Ethernet frame size is equal 64 bytes. This file contains C-style array representing Ethernet-frame sizes (array index corresponds to frame size).

CATV head-end (upstream) and CATV head-end (downstream) This packet distribution was made available by Dolors Sala of Broadcom Corporation. This distribution was measured at CATV head-end and reported in
D. Sala and A. Gummalla, "PON Functional Requirements: Services and Performance," presented at IEEE 802.3ah meeting in Portland, OR, July 2001. Available at http://www.ieee802.org/3/efm/public/jul01/presentations/sala_1_0701.pdf.
